<p>It was this last item that lead me to revisit <a href="http://www.edushi.com/">EDuShi</a> (E-City). A few weeks back Rich (<a href="http://www.allroadsleadtochina.com">All Roads Lead to China</a>) pointed me to the site&#8217;s Shanghai map and I was blown away, and am now even more impressed that they have most major cities in the country covered &#8211; including Suzhou!</p>
<p>Anyone that was a fan of Simcity will immediately warm to the style of EDuShi&#8217;s maps, as they definitely have that Sim-like quality about them. The zoomable maps offer an impressive amount of detail, with even things like neighborhoods and communities labelled (my old place, Yu Lan Xin Cun, is labelled).</p>
<p>Here are some screenshots (click the image for a larger version):</p>
<h3><a href="http://sh.edushi.com/">Shanghai Map</a></h3>
<p><a rel="lightbox[maps]" href="http://www.ryan-mclaughlin.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/edushi-sh.jpg" title="Shanghai SimCity-like map"><img src="http://www.ryan-mclaughlin.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/edushi-sh.jpg" alt="Shanghai Map" width="550" /></a></p>
<h3><a href="http://suzhou.edushi.com/">Suzhou Map</a></h3>
<p><a rel="lightbox[maps]" href="http://www.ryan-mclaughlin.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/edushi-sz.jpg" title="Suzhou SimCity-like map"><img src="http://www.ryan-mclaughlin.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/edushi-sz.jpg" alt="Suzhou Map" width="550" /></a></p>
<h3><a href="http://hz.edushi.com/">Hangzhou Map</a></h3>
<p><a rel="lightbox[maps]" href="http://www.ryan-mclaughlin.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/edushi-hz.jpg" title="Hangzhou SimCity-like map"><img src="http://www.ryan-mclaughlin.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/edushi-hz.jpg" alt="Hangzhou Map" width="550" /></a></p>
<h3><a href="http://beijing.edushi.com/">Beijing Map</a></h3>
<p><a rel="lightbox[maps]" href="http://www.ryan-mclaughlin.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/edushi-bj.jpg" title="Beijing SimCity-like map"><img src="http://www.ryan-mclaughlin.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/edushi-bj.jpg" alt="Beijing Map" width="550" /></a></p>
<p>The maps are in Chinese, but as streets and places are some of the easiest Hanzi to read, this isn&#8217;t so much a problem (still, eDuShi, if you&#8217;re listening &#8211; an English version would be fan-frigin-tastic). The other downsides to the maps is that if you are looking for a place outside of the city centre, you may be out of luck. Additionally, for whatever reason, their orientation seems to be a bit random, and no scale is given.</p>
<p>Still, all in all, for a map lover like me, I think their damn cool.</p>
