I had it once in China, and the symptoms lingered for a couple of weeks after the first four or five days of general malaise. But during the year or two of visiting China, I've had more minor upset stomach symptoms. But my girlfriend tells me that I'm the only foreigner she knows that ever got food poisoning. Of all the co-workers from abroad (must be dozens), not one of them ever had food problems. I find it hard to believe, but I take her word for it. I must just be extremely pathetic and weak :-) Food poisoning is extremely painful. I even went so far as getting it all priced out at a local hospital. But my fear of needles (ironically despite the numerous piercings and tattoos) and general apathy (read: laziness) caused it to be shelved and not bothered with again. It's once again high on my priority list... at least the damn hep ones. It seems to me that everyone gets it nomatter how careful they are... eek. My gf and I were sick with foodpoisoning so bad we couldn't leave the house for like two days.
