Ryan,
Your mom just e-mailed me with your news but no explanation as to what you are doing in China! How long have you been there? Please, when you have some time would you please bring Bob me up to date on your whereabouts and I presume you are in the literary field so let us in on your news.

Jane and Bob michell

And, by the way, CONGRADULATIONS to you and Maggie.

Interesting about the names exchange, I am Australian and the same last name thing is important to me as well, so we did the same thing. My name in english, and in chinese, we use my wifes name. Which in one way is a minor compromise since you have to invent a chinese name anyway, although I wonder if it will create future strangeness with taiwanese relatives finding it a bit strange!

I love how in the 'Chinese Wedding Vows' the questions to the bride/groom are 'are you willing to' etc, etc, and the literal translation of the response is, 'I want'. Way more than willing baby, I want it!
